How to choose a yoga mat?
Cork yoga mat: The most comfortable, easy-to-clean and maintain yoga mat, it is the ideal choice for yoga practice.
It is not like wood, plastic or vinyl. It feels soft and is suitable for long-term practice.
Few cork yoga MATS can make you fall in love. The tighter you sweat, the tighter the mat becomes! The surface of cork is warm underfoot and insulating against cold and heat.
Cork yoga MATS have a very long service life. If they are damaged, they can be repaired or polished to look brand new.
Cork can easily expel dust, hair and other small particles from its surface. It can repel small pests and insects. The cork pad is very easy to clean and maintain.
Cork is a completely natural, reusable and easily recyclable material.
It is made from the bark of the cork oak that grows in the Mediterranean region and has a lifespan of 250 years
It can be harvested without harming the trees and grows back regularly every few years.
Only about 50% of the bark is removed at harvest.
It is also biodegradable and will decompose into the environment at the end of its life cycle.
Cork contains a waxy substance called suberin, which has the property of naturally repelling small pests and insects.
This makes the cork surface resistant to the growth and reproduction of these organisms, thus helping to promote the healthiest and cleanest surface in yoga practice.
It is an ideal choice for people who are prone to allergies.
Cork yoga MATS come in different versions and have varying degrees of adhesion to the floor or hands/feet.
The first thing to look at is what the bottom surface is. Generally speaking, you will find EVA, TPE, rubber (as well as natural rubber and recycled rubber)
The rubber adheres completely to the floor, while the TPE doesn't stick and is a bit curled. Eva is flatter than thermoplastic elastomers, but it is not sticky either.
Then, for the surface, you can usually find one of three materials: a cork fabric with a more natural hand feel similar to the cork fabric commonly used in wallets, and a cork glossy material with an upside-down texture.
The luminous body may have a better feel, but it is more prone to breakage and wear release of the drill bit. The fabric is more durable, but the more natural it feels, the better. It will also stick better to hands and feet.
The meaning is that for Yin yoga or practices that don't require much persistence, a less genuine fondness is acceptable. Otherwise, it's best to find a more natural feeling.
In terms of price, EVA is usually the most expensive and TPE is the cheapest.
